Earlier this year, Democratic operatives looking for the best way to define Mitt Romney discovered something interesting about Paul Ryan's budget. The New York Times reported that when the details of his proposals were run past focus groups, they found that the plan is so cruel that voters “ simply refused to believe any politician would do such a thing.”

And that's why they succeed.

The "cruel" part is thinking that government---an entity that cannot deliver the mail, reasonably---can run a complex health care program without $60 billion in annual waste and fraud.

These programs are bankrupt and will be past the point of no return in a decade.

Reform is needed to keep these programs going. What is cruel is not thinking about the welfare of future recipients.

So put down the cruel Marxist ideology, and let capitalism improve humanity.
