Gov. Scott Walker's campaign hired former U.S. Attorney Steven Biskupic more than a year ago to provide legal cover in the face of the John Doe probe into alleged wrongdoing related to the governor's 2010 campaign.
Biskupic is associated with the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich, which counts Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus among its partners, and which has been enriched by the flow of taxpayer dollars steered into its coffers by the Walker administration's legislative allies. The Walker campaign has already paid Biskupic tens of thousands of dollars to try to put out fires of suspicion raised by the Doe probe, which was launched by the Milwaukee County district attorney but has since been aided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies.
Unfortunately for Walker, those fires of suspicion are now raging out of control. Each new day seems to bring more trouble:
