Why the United States Is Destroying Its Education System | Truthout

Walker and his corporate owned Republican rubber stamp are busy taking it down in Wisconsin.  To what end?  Easier social control and more opportunities to raid the public treasury.

Why the United States Is Destroying Its Education System | Truthout

A nation that destroys its systems of education, degrades its public information, guts its public libraries and turns its airwaves into vehicles for cheap, mindless amusement becomes deaf, dumb and blind. It prizes test scores above critical thinking and literacy. It celebrates rote vocational training and the singular, amoral skill of making money. It churns out stunted human products, lacking the capacity and vocabulary to challenge the assumptions and structures of the corporate state. It funnels them into a caste system of drones and systems managers. It transforms a democratic state into a feudal system of corporate masters and serfs.

MPS having a HS graduation rate of less than 42% is acceptable?

I'm disgusted you would defend the public school monopoly with that kind of performance.

MPS is criminal level racism.

School vouchers is the only hope for poor and middle class kids to escape MPS.

Aren't progressives for "choice" to be in the hands of parents?

Is the local, failing, public school the only choice you want for kids?

Kewaskum's doing pretty good, but not MPS. They're limping and sick, and your solution is to cut off their legs.

You need to stop using the argument that the political view that seeks to nourish individual educational excellence and remediate the underlying causes of educational short falls is racist. That doesn't make any sense.

Oh, unless you're in the Tea Party. Are you the March Hare or the Mad Hatter? ;^)

But the Tea Party couldn't be racist, could they?

Vouchers is not cutting off MPS's "legs".

Vouchers is an opportunity for kids to escape the socialist failure of MPS.

No government bureaucrat is going to save MPS.

You seem content to keep sentencing kids to failure 58% of the time by embracing the same old tired rhetoric.

Why can't you advocate for parents to have a choice for their kids?

Why does the godless, valueless, out of control, MPS school have to be the only choice in your worldview?

Is "choice" verboten in the progressive lexicon now?

Kevin,
You haven't been to an MPS school forensics tournament, huh?
I met a lot of good kids and teachers there.
There are a lot of MPS success stories.
The charters ain't doing much to help.
Milwaukee needs jobs that pay the mortgage so there's a reason to go to school, not a destruction of the schools.

Charter schools are not the only choice schools.

There are kids thriving in Christian schools as part of the school choice voucher program.

Or perhaps, you would rather sentence those kids to a public school system that graduates only 42% of its students....

Why are you afraid of choice?

If parents each get a voucher, and choose NOT to use MPS, because it stinks, what is the problem?

If MPS is as good as you imply, there should be no problem, parents will willingly use their voucher for MPS and sentence their kids to failure 58% of the time...like rabid, and blind, supporters of the MPS monopoly want to do!

Its a pretty surreal situation when I have to lecture a progressive about supporting choice on something.

Is it a problem empowering parents with a choice for their children, by giving them a voucher?
