The World Economic Forum (WEF), which two years ago, gave America the top spot on the scale, last year awarded that spot to Switzerland, now both Singapore and Sweden have forged ahead leaving the States eating their dust.
13,500 people were surveyed in 139 countries. Due to a “weakening of public and private institutions” the U.S. lost its lead. Data crunchers state, “Lingering concerns about the state of its financial markets” to also be worrisome.
Sweden, by comparison, has “the world’s most transparent and efficient public institutions, with very low levels of corruption and undue influence.” Loosely translated this means, “Some aspects of Socialism rock, whereas a Capitalistic society full of political, partisan cronyism, ain’t working.”
