Right wing declares war on the poor: Kate O'Beirne calls parents of school lunch recipients child abusers

Right wing declares war on the poor: Kate O'Beirne calls parents of school lunch recipients child abusers | Crooks and Liars

I'm speechless. But isn't this what Grothman and Strachota want to say? Or would say if they had the guts?

Kevin, too? Actually, he might say it.

Who the heck is Kate O'Beirne?

If I ask Lindsey Lohan about the wonders of alcohol and drug use and attribute her statements to progressives and progressive causes, that would be more valid than what you attempt here.

At least people have heard of Lindsey Lohan...

Indeed, why aren't so many parents capable of providing that cereal and banana? I played the video twice, and she doesn't say anything about cutting the programs. I've seen comments on other blogs that accuse her of being blind to the number of people in poverty since the recession. Yet, am I to believe that even someone receiving assistance can't feed their child breakfast?

I think she asks a fair question. And, without knowing it, she's also exposing a fundamental problem with American education. Despite throwing money and teachers at the problem, urban school districts like Milwaukee are failing. Ask any teacher (urban or not) and you'll hear about the parents who don't make sure their kids do their homework; who don't attend parent-teacher conferences or school functions; who don't teach their children social and coping skills, etc.
