Death of a young luge competitor good for ratings.

Am I the only one who thinks that repeatedly showing the death of Nodar Kumaritashvili, the young luge competitor from Georgia, is nothing but snuff porn for ratings?

I'm trying to find a way to agree with you without sounding like a solipsistic jerk.

No doubt.

Are you saying its not the viewers fault for wanting to watch it?

Teen books with gay characters = PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!!!

Showing a tragic death on TV = GET'R DONE!

I watched it once only because I couldn't visualize how on earth that could happen and wanted to understand. Jesus, how were those steel posts not covered with something?

Dan, I downloaded the video just to do a slow-mo of it once and for all. Beyond padding those posts, I wondered why on Earth they did not have a fence between the track and the posts to bounce a body back, he would have been unhurt.

You know, at NASCAR ovals, they have high fences to keep car bits and pieces from the public, right?

I think I saw something about a quick-built wall, but too late for poor Nodar.
